WHAT IS BIM?
Technology is transforming the way the construction industry does work. BIM, otherwise known as Building Information Modelling, is a 3D model-based process that provides users with insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and showcase building construction and renovation projects.
BUILDING IN VIRTUAL SPACE
Typically, a full construction drawing set contains hundreds of individual two-dimensional drawings, assembled from multiple design packages (architectural, interior design, structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) from different design consultants. Because of this, drawing sets are infamous for containing many inconsistencies, missing information, and constructibility issues. BIM allows us to build from these drawing sets in virtual space (virtual construction), where we are able to identify design inconsistencies and problematic details before shovels have hit dirt - thereby avoiding project schedule delays and cost overruns.
MODERNISED FIELD LAYOUT
We recognise the shift that modern technologies are making within the industry and heavily invest to stay at the front of the curve in their adoption. By uploading our BIM models into robotic survey equipment we are able to precisely layout points, grid lines, and other elements directly from the computer into the field, accurate to within a fraction of an inch. This ability saves us layout time, and eliminates errors, giving us an advantage over our competition in project timelines and quality of product.
